Crazy pizza, that is: how to recover old bread and turn it into a tasty dish
Ingredients for 4:
- 8/10 handfuls of old bread cut into slices or into chunks - 1 liter of boiling water - 300 gr tomato sauce - 1 white onion - 1 mozzarella (good also the vegan version, without mozzarella) - dried oregano - extra virgin olive oil - 1 chili pepper - salt and pepper
Recipe:
Put the bread in a bowl, pour the boiling water and mix until the bread has completely absorbed the water.
Leave to rest for about half an hour, then add 150 gr of tomato sauce, a tablespoon of oregano, a pinch of salt. Spread the dough on a previously oiled baking dish.
Slice the onion thinly and cut the mozzarella into cubes. Pour over the mixture the sauce, onion, mozzarella, 2 tablespoons of oregano, chopped chilli pepper and salt to taste. Bake at 200 ° C for half an hour.
Serve hot as a first course or, using single-portion ceramic molds, you can also serve in small portions as an appetizer.
